Suits With Shorts: Will Their Lifespan Be As Long As Their Inseam?
Odd fashion trends are nothing new when seen on a model walking the runway at a New York fashion week show.
But when the styles hit the street, such as when "mustard" was the chosen color of fall 2012, it can turn some heads and raise some eyebrows.
And one trend in men's fashion is doing just that – suits with shorts.
Perhaps it was when Pharrell Williams wore a tuxedo with shorts at the Oscars in March 2014, or maybe it is a desire by men to have more wardrobe options.
Whatever the reason, short suits have arrived.
According to a Business Insider interview with the creative director from retailer Jay Hilburn, short suits are particularly popular among the younger generation.
So just what makes a suit with shorts such a desirable outfit?
Perhaps it's the ability to show off one's toned legs, as this fitted, mid-thigh black number does.
Maybe it's the freedom to accessorize with sporty head and footwear, as this athletic number demonstrates.
As this ensemble shows, it certainly adds for a more casual look while still being professional. The jacket paired with the turtle neck shows conservative professionalism, while the boxer-esque shorts allow for a more playful look.
It could be that it's easier to add a splash of color. After all, a red pants suit could be considered just a bit too much.
Or maybe it's yet another example of the millennial generations desire to maintain and air of youth in all they do, as seen in this funky number with fierce patterns.
Whatever the reason, suits with shorts are here…for the time being.
So, will you join in on this fashion trend? Or wait until winter when pants are more appropriate?
