Study: Picky Eating May Be Early Signs Of Anxiety

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Parents of picky eaters take heart!

New research suggests the problem of children being picky eaters is rarely worth worrying about.

While it may not be a concern for diets, the study did find that in a small portion of kids picky eating may signal emotional troubles that should be checked out.

About one in five preschool-aged children are either extremely selective about what they eat, or they have less severe pickiness, dubbed 'moderate selected eating' in the study.

Kids with either level of pickiness were almost two-times more likely than others to develop anxiety symptoms.

To avoid picky eating researchers suggest that parents try introducing new foods at random times during the day, not just at meal times.
