Study: Minnesota's Retired Population To Double By 2040

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – For all those that believe Minnesota is a good place to retire, prepare to put that theory to the test.

According to the Pioneer Press, the state's population of retirees is about to explode.

Met Council data shows from 2020 until 2030, for every one person of "working age" added to the Twin Cities population there will be 21 people added who are over the age of 65.

By 2040, the demographic shift will nearly double the metro area's elderly population when more than 1 in 5 people will be retired.
