Study Finds Workplace Temperature Is Designed For Men

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Women who are always freezing at work finally know who to blame: Men.

In a new study, researchers found that most office building temperatures are set using a decades-old formula. It's called the "thermal comfort model" and it takes into account factors like air temperature, air speed and clothing insulation.

But the problem is the formula is now considered sexist. The factors are based on how an average 40-year-old man feels in these conditions.

Today, women make up half of the workforce. Women tend to feel cooler in these conditions because they're smaller, on average, and have more body fat.
