Student Sexually Assaulted A Block From U Of M

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - A University of Minnesota student was sexually assaulted a block from campus early Saturday morning.

The student had left a friend's apartment around 2 a.m. in the Marcy Holmes neighborhood, near the intersection of 5th Street and 14th Avenue, when a man stopped his vehicle and the student got inside. (It was unclear whether she got in the car willingly.)

The man then drove her to an unknown location and sexually assaulted her, according to the university's campus-wide crime alert.

The student described the assailant as between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11, between 25 and 28, with a medium build. She said he spoke with an accent.

Minneapolis police are investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Minneapolis Police Tip Line at 612-692-8477 and reference case MP 15-061317.
