Armstrong High Student Faces Weapons Charge

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Hennepin County Attorney's office has submitted a petition to charge a 17-year-old student with felony weapons possession.

The student, who is from New Hope, is accused of threatening another student with a weapon Thursday in the parking lot of Armstrong High School in Plymouth.

A witness contacted police, who say the student was eventually escorted from class to the school office.

A 9mm handgun and an empty ammo clip were found in his backpack.

Investigators say the student changed his story about why the gun was in his backpack several times, and said he would be a "dead man" if he returned the gun to its owner.
