Watching Sports May Impact Your Overall Health, Study Suggests

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Do you get stressed out when you're watching the Vikings, Wild or Twins play?

A small new study in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology shows watching a game can stress your heart out just as much as playing in the game itself.

The researchers say people's pulses jumped by 75 percent when they watched a hockey game on TV, and by 110 percent if they watched in person.

That's the same cardiac stress as vigorous exercise.
