'Stop For Me' Campaign Stressing Crosswalk Safety In St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Fifty seven pedestrians and bicyclists have been hit in St. Paul so far this year.

That includes a 24-year-old woman who was killed at a crosswalk on Kellogg Avenue in March. On Tuesday, several groups announced a pedestrian safety campaign.

They are focusing on 34 of the most dangerous intersections in the city, holding crosswalk demonstrations. They want drivers and pedestrians to be more aware.

"When you see a car stopped at an intersection, whether or not you can see why, please do not pass them without first looking for pedestrians crossing in the street," Kyle Mianuli with the Stop for Me Campaign said.

St. Paul police will be enforcing the crosswalk law as well as speed limits to ensure pedestrian safety.
