St. Paul Man Steals $1,000 Helmet From Police Motorcycle

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- A man is behind bars in St. Paul, accused of stealing a motorcycle helmet worth more than $1,000 from the police.

Police say 30-year-old Moe Oo was caught on surveillance camera taking the helmet off  a police motorcycle parked near the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center.

The video shows Oo taking the helmet from the side mirror and replacing it with the black cap he had on. He was caught hours later when officers responded to a burglary on Rice Street, where he was caught with stolen property.

"During his arrest, it was discovered he had an emblem of the motors unit -- that usually is on the motor officers helmet -- in his possession," Sgt. Mike Ernster of the St. Paul Police said.

Police say Oo admitted to taking the helmet. He faces felony theft charges. The helmet has not yet been found.
