ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Minnesota finance officials are releasing the latest details on state tax collections after a few months of disappointing figures.

The quarterly update due Thursday covers revenue for April, May and June. It will also provide a look at broader economic patterns that could hint at where the state is headed.

Minnesota's tax collections have been below expectations for the past four months. But officials always stress caution in interpreting the monthly figures because they don't account for changes in state spending patterns or quirks in timing of tax payments.

In a campaign year, the reports always take on a bigger profile. Republicans are trying to make the case that the economy is sputtering while Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton has tried to present a more-upbeat picture.
