State Patrol: Drunk Wis. Woman Drove 101 MPH With Baby In Car

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 23-year-old woman from Nekoosa, Wis., was arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly driving under the influence with a 3-month-old baby in the car, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Authorities said the incident happened just before 9 a.m. on Interstate 94 near Northfield, Wis. Officers stopped a vehicle that had been traveling 101 miles per hour. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers detected an odor of intoxicants coming from the driver.

After an investigation and field sobriety testing, Jolyn M. Beighley was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated second offense with a minor passenger. While she was being transported for a blood draw, Beighley became uncooperative and attempted to kick the back window of the trooper's car out, causing damage inside the vehicle.

Officers said when Beighley was arrested, they found a 3-month-old child inside the car. The child was turned over to Jackson County Child Protective Services.

Beighley is being charged with second-degree reckless endangerment of a child, second-degree operating while intoxicated with a minor in the vehicle, criminal damage to property, operating while suspended, speeding 101 miles per hour in a 65 miles per hour zone, open intoxicants and possession of a prescription drug without a prescription. Beighley is currently in the Jackson County Jail.
