State Patrol: Windom Man Killed In Cottonwood County Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 21-year-old man from Windom died Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Cottonwood County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities responded to the crash at about 6:31 a.m. on Highway 71 just north of Windom. A 2000 Ford Focus was heading northbound on Highway 71, lost control and slid into the southbound lane of traffic. The car was broadsided by a semi-truck heading southbound.

The driver of the Ford Focus, identified as Cody L. Galer of Windom, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured. Authorities say the road conditions were icy at the time of the crash.

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Windom Police Department and the Cottonwood County Sheriff's Office.
