State Patrol: 3-Vehicle Crash Closes Highway 7 In Hopkins

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Both directions of Highway 7 in Hopkins were closed Sunday evening while the Minnesota State Patrol investigated a three-vehicle crash.

The crash occurred just before 6:30 p.m. on Highway 7 at U.S. 169. Officials say an SUV was traveling northbound on 169, exiting to Highway 7, when the driver struck a guardrail and continued into the intersection at a red light. A pickup truck traveling eastbound on Highway 7 entered the intersection at 169.

Authorities say the SUV struck the pickup truck on the front passenger side, causing the pickup to roll over into the westbound lanes before colliding with a car stopped at a red light.

Highway 7 reopened just before 10 p.m.
