State Patrol: Rush City Woman, 47, Dead In Broadside Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving alcohol in St. Louis County early Friday morning.

According to the state patrol, the crash incident occurred at 1:34 a.m. on Highway 70 at milepost 18 in St. Louis County.

Details of the crash are limited, but authorities say it was a broadside crash involving a 1989 GMC with an unknown model and a 2001 Buick LeSabre.

According to the patrol's report, there was alcohol detected in the system of the driver of the Buick, identified as 25-year-old Garrett Stevens of Rush City. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and is at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

The passenger in the Buick, 47-year-old Mary Gonzalez of Rush City, was killed. There was no alcohol in her system, the patrol reports.

The driver of the other car, 23-year-old Austin Wolters of Janesville, Wisconsin, suffered no apparent injury.
