State Patrol: Pedestrian Hit By Semi, Seriously Injured Near Crookston

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 25-year-old woman was seriously injured Sunday morning after being hit by a semi-truck on a highway near Crookston, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities were called to the incident at about 1:25 a.m. on Highway 75 at milepost 325 in Polk County. The State Patrol says a pedestrian was walking southbound on Highway 75 when she tried to flag down a semi-truck that was heading southbound.

The pedestrian was hit by the front fender and mirror of the semi-truck and thrown into the northbound lanes of traffic. She was taken a hospital before being airlifted to Altru with serious injuries.

The State Patrol identified the pedestrian as Amber D. Shablow of Lake Bronson. Authorities say alcohol was detected on Shablow at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck, a 61-year-old man, was not injured. The State Patrol is investigating the incident with assistance from the Crookston Police Department and the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
