MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials say a 19-year-old Minneapolis woman suffered serious injuries late Monday morning after driving head-on into a pole in Golden Valley.

The New Hope Police Department says that the crash happened after officers there tried to stop the car on Winnetka Avenue.

Police say that when officers initiated the traffic stop, two people got out of the car before it sped off going south down the avenue.

The car was later found crashed near the Highway 55 intersection in nearby Golden Valley, with two people still inside.

Both people had to be extricated from the car.

The State Patrol identified the driver as Alana M. Magnuson. She was taken to North Memorial Medical Center with serious injuries.
