State Patrol: Pedestrian Hit, Killed On Highway 52 Near Cannon Falls

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota State Patrol said a pedestrian was hit by at least one vehicle and killed on Highway 52 near Cannon Falls Sunday night.

Authorities received a report of a crash involving a pedestrian at about 6:08 p.m. on Highway 52 at County Road 24 in Goodhue County. The State Patrol is on the scene investigating with assistance from the Dakota County and Goodhue County Sheriff's offices. Authorities said the pedestrian was crossing the southbound lanes of the highway when he was hit by two vehicles. They were a 2004 Dodge Neon and a 2011 Ford Fusion.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. It's not known why he was on the highway at the time of the incident. The name of the victim has not been released.

Authorities said southbound Highway 52 is closed in the area while they investigate.
