Pedestrian struck, killed by motorist in Eden Prairie

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed in the southwest metro Monday morning.

The patrol said the fatal incident occurred on eastbound Highway 5 near Eden Prairie Road in the city of the same name.

According to the patrol, 80-year-old John Thomas Nordeen was walking against traffic in the crosswalk when he was struck by a motorist traveling eastbound on the highway.

The driver is listed by the patrol as a 59-year-old woman from Eden Prairie.
