State Patrol: Motorcyclist Killed In Plymouth Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a crash in the northwest Twin Cities metro Sunday afternoon that killed at least one person.

Authorities responded at about 5:36 p.m. to southbound Highway 169 and Rockford Road in Plymouth on a report of a two-vehicle crash.

When officers arrived, a Dodge minivan was heading southbound on Highway 169, north of Rockford Road in the left lane. A Honda motorcycle was headed southbound on Highway 169 at an excessive speed.

The State Patrol says the motorcyclist attempted to pass the van on the left shoulder when he hit the van on the rear driver's side. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist was identified as 22-year-old Andrew S. Roeglin of New Hope. The driver of the van, a 55-year-old from Brooklyn Park, was not injured.
