State Patrol: Alcohol Suspected In Independence Crash That Left 1 Critical

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol says an alleged drunken driver rear-ended a car with a motorhome in Independence Thursday, critically injuring the other driver.

Just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, police were dispatched to Highway 12 and County Road 92. Officers tell WCCO a car was trying to turn left onto northbound 92 when it was rear-ended by a motorhome pulling a trailer at 55 mph.

The motorhome flipped over and passersby pulled out two people, a married couple, from inside the vehicle. They're expected to be OK.

The man in the car had to be airlifted to the hospital with critical injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but the male adult driver of the motorhome is suspected of drunken driving.
