State Patrol: 8-Year-Old Drives Car With 2 Kids Inside

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say an 8-year-old boy drove his foster family's car with two younger children inside from St. Paul to Mounds View before pulling safely into a random driveway.

Minnesota State Patrol spokeswoman Lt. Tiffani Nielson says none of the children or anyone else on the roads were injured.

The two younger children, ages 3 and 5, are siblings and all three are in foster care in a St. Paul home. Nielson said social service workers are investigating the incident and couldn't comment on whether the children are still in the home.

Nielson says the State Patrol was notified after receiving reports about a car swerving on Interstate 35E early Tuesday. One caller was able to pull up alongside the vehicle and reported that it was child behind the wheel.
