State Patrol: 27-Year-Old Arrested For Stealing, Driving Excavator Drunk

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol says if you drive drunk, you will get caught – especially if you're driving a giant piece of construction equipment down a sidewalk.

According to the state patrol, 27-year-old Dustin Lunde of Proctor, Minn. was recently arrested after driving a stolen Caterpillar excavator on a Duluth sidewalk. The man was also allegedly drunk with a BAC twice the legal limit.

A trooper spotted Lunde in the backhoe near Superior Street and Michigan Avenue just after 3:30 a.m. on an undisclosed date. Lunde allegedly admitted to stealing the excavator.

Lunde was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property and second-degree DWI.
