State Patrol: 2 Dead In Roseau County Crash With Train

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two people died Wednesday night after a broadside crash involving a train in Roseau County, according to the State Patrol.

Authorities responded to the crash at about 5:33 p.m. on Highway 11 just south of Warroad. When officers arrived, they learned a 2003 Ford Focus was heading northbound at a railroad crossing when it slowed at a stop sign, not stopping. A train collided with the vehicle and pushed it into the north ditch, where it came to rest on the driver's side.

Two people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified by authorities as 35-year-old Aaron J. Cook of Warroad and 33-year-old Sheryl L. Reed of Macon, Ga. The driver of the train was not injured.
