State Patrol: 2 Dead In Crash On I-694, Baby Survives

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A man and a woman were killed Friday evening in Anoka County following a rear-end crash on east-bound Interstate-694, according to the Minnesota State Patrol

The crash happened shortly after 8 p.m. near the intersection of Matterhorn Drive in Fridley.

Authorities say a male driver was traveling at about 100 miles per hour when he rear-ended a semi truck in the eastbound lanes.

The driver died along with Patrice Hooks, 31, of Hopkins, who was in the front-passenger seat. A one-year-old in the back seat was transported Children's Hospital with minor injuries.

Semi-truck driver Steven Pothen of Wadena, 68, was not injured.

The incident is still under investigation.
