State Patrol: 2 Adults Killed, Toddler Seriously Injured In Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two people are dead and a 3-year-old child is seriously injured after a head-on crash Tuesday morning in Carlton County.

The Minnesota State Patrol says a Chevy Impala crossed the centerline of Highway 45 near Interstate 35, striking an Oldsmobile 88 head-on at about 8:24 a.m.

Both drivers were killed in the crash: Joshua Padgett, a 32-year-old man from Carlton in the Impala, and Karen Johnson, a 56-year-old woman from Esko in the Olds 88.

The driver of the Impala was travelling with his two young children: a 3-year-old boy who suffered serious injuries, and a 5-year-old girl who suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Olds 88 was the sole occupant. The names of all involved have not been released.

The state patrol is investigating.
