State Patrol: 1 Dead In Crash With Semi Near Stewartville

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One person was killed late Thursday morning after a crash with a semi-truck in southeastern Minnesota, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities responded just before noon to the crash, involving a pick-up truck and a semi, on Highway 63 about three miles south of Stewartville. That's located just south of Rochester. When officers arrived, a semi-truck was heading southbound on Highway 63 and a 1989 Chevy pick-up truck was headed northbound.

The State Patrol says the semi-truck lost control on icy roads and went into the northbound lanes of traffic. The semi broadsided the pick-up truck as they collided in the northbound lanes.

One driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash with assistance from the Mower County Sheriff's Office and the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office.
