State Patrol: 1 Dead In 3-Car Crash Near Rosemount

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 46-year-old man died Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 52 near Rosemount, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities responded to the crash at about 2:31 p.m. near the area of southbound Highway 52 north of County Road 42 in Dakota County. When officers arrived, a Jeep Wrangler was heading southbound on Highway 52 when its topper blew off.

Authorities said a 2013 Ford pick-up truck was also heading southbound, hit the topper and pulled to the left shoulder. The driver of the pick-up truck was standing in a grassy median ditch when he was hit by a 1994 Buick Park Avenue after the driver swerved to avoid stopped traffic.

The driver of the pick-up truck was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by the State Patrol as 46-year-old John E. Ostrom of Fountain. The drivers of the other two vehicles suffered no apparent injuries.
