State Patrol: 1 Arrested In Fatal Isanti County Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 28-year-old McGregor man is in jail after an Isanti County crash that killed a 70-year-old man, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

On Wednesday at 3:45 p.m., the state patrol says a Toyota Tundra was traveling on Highway 65 at Rice Lake Road NE when it crossed into northbound lanes. The truck then crashed head-on with a Chrysler Town and Country and then collided with a Saturn L200.

The driver of the Chrysler, identified as Robert Palmen, died in the crash. A passenger of the same car, 69-year-old Marna Palmen, suffered non-life threatening injuries. Both are from Mora, Minn..

The driver of the truck, identified as Shawn Abbot, was then arrested and is being held at the Isanti County Jail on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide.

There were no other injuries. The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Isanti County Sheriff's Office and Kanabec County Sheriff's Office.
