'Unite In Purple' Day Brings Record Numbers To State Fair

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Friday was "Unite in Purple" day at the State Fair, and a record number of people came out to honor Prince.

According to the fair's website, 141,023 people attended the Great Minnesota Get-Together on Friday, setting a record for daily attendance on the second day.

That's a jump of nearly 30,000 people from the first day of this year's fair. Last year, 114,292 people went to the fair on the second day. 2014 was higher than 2015, but only slightly, with 118,606 people heading to the fairgrounds.

That year also set the overall attendance record, with 1,824,830 total attendees. So far, 2016 is on pace to break that. With a beautiful week ahead of us, it's certainly within reach.
