Civil War Murals Returned To State Capitol's Walls

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The walls of the State Capitol are getting back something they've been missing.

They are going back to their homes in the Governor's Reception Room and Anteroom.

All of the paintings are over 100 years old.

They were taken down, conserved and stored offsite during the Capitol's restoration.

The painting were the source of friction between Democratic Governor Mark Dayton and some lawmakers, who disagreed about the content of some of the paintings. Two other murals, featuring Native Americans, were removed after being deemed historically inaccurate.
