Police: Shots Fired Outside Maplewood Nightclub

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Maplewood police say no one was injured early Friday morning in a shooting outside of a nightclub.

Police say the shooting happened at about 2 a.m. at Stargate Bar and Nightclub on the 1700 block of Rice Street, just north of St. Paul.

A fight broke out between two groups before shots were fired. Most patrons had left the scene by the time officers arrived.

Police made a traffic stop in Roseville soon after, and the passengers fled the car. Officers found two guns inside the vehicle, but they did not match the shell casings found at the scene.

Police do not have any suspects in custody, but say there is no threat to the public.

Stargate, which did not have any surveillance video of the shooting, is no stranger to violence. A 20-year-old man was shot dead in the parking lot last year.

And three people were attacked with a box cutter outside of the club in 2011.
