Standoff At St. Louis Park Apartment Building Ends; Person Taken To Hospital For Evaluation

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (WCCO) -- A person was evaluated at a Twin Cities hospital Tuesday after being involved in an hours-long standoff with authorities at a St. Louis Park apartment building.

According to officials, the person started a fire in the trash room of a building in the area of 5600 Camerata Way in the suburb just west of Minneapolis.

Fire crews responded around 9 a.m. and quickly knocked down the flames. They then began negotiating with the individual, who is a resident of the building.

Police and a SWAT team responded. Residents in units near the standoff were evacuated from their apartments.

Around 4 p.m., authorities said that the person was peacefully taken into custody and brought to an area hospital for an evaluation.

No one was hurt in the fire or the standoff.
