St. Thomas Student Found Dead, Foul Play Not Suspected

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials in St. Paul say a University of St. Thomas student was found dead early Sunday morning in an apartment on campus.

Denis Kato, of Uganda, hadn't been feeling well Saturday night when he was out with friends, the university reported. The 26-year-old was then found unresponsive at his apartment on 2175 Grand Ave.

No foul play is suspected, officials say. An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of Kato's death.

A funeral service for Kato, a business major, will be held Friday at the university's St. Paul campus. Kato's body will then be brought Uganda for burial.

Two of Kato's brothers, including one who is his twin, are students at St. Thomas.

The university said support is available for student's dealing with Kato's death.
