Police: St. Thomas Student Robbed At Gunpoint In Downtown Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities are looking for two suspects after a University of St. Thomas student was robbed at gunpoint on Saturday.

Police say the incident happened at about 1 a.m. near the intersection of 8th Street and Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis. A male student told authorities he was walking north on Hennepin Avenue toward the Skyway Theatre when two male suspects approached him from behind. They told the victim to give them his wallet and cell phone.

The victim noticed one of the suspects was holding a black semi-automatic handgun on his hip. The suspect had the handgun pointed at the student, who gave the two suspects his wallet and phone before they fled the area.

The victim then went to the Skyway Theatre and reported the incident to police. One suspect is described as a black male about 30 years old and 6 feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds and featuring a black afro, clean shaven, wearing a black zip up sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes and holding a semi-automatic handgun.
