St. Paul's History Theatre Receives Grant For Their Work With Veterans

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP)The History Theatre in St. Paul is being recognized for its work with military veterans.

The theater will receive $5,000 from the Blue Star Theatres Grant Program. Theatre Communications Group, the national organization for theater, and Blue Star Families recently announced the second round of program grants.

The program is designed to give military families more access to theatrical performances. The History Theatre worked with more than 100 Minnesota military veterans and their families to produce "The Things They Carried," based on the short-story collection by Minnesotan Tim O'Brien about U.S. soldiers in the Vietnam War. The theater also provided post-show discussions led by Vietnam veterans.

Founded in 1978, the History Theatre is dedicated to producing works that explore Minnesota's past and the American experience.
