St. Paul To Unveil Design Plan For River Balcony

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- St. Paul may soon have another great view along the Mississippi River. On Thursday, the city shared new designs for the River Balcony project.

The project intends to introduce a one-and-a-half-mile elevated pedestrian path that would stretch from the Science Museum of Minnesota all the way to Union Depot.

"One of Saint Paul's greatest assets is the Mississippi River, and the River Balcony will play an important role in creating vibrant places that connect our downtown community to this incredible natural landmark," Mayor Chris Coleman said. "I'm looking forward to crossing another item off my mayoral bucket list: having a beer along the river in downtown Saint Paul."

Coleman is set to unveil a 17-foot model of the proposed balcony, which will be on display at Union Depot.
