St. Paul Saints Holding Open Tryouts May 5

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- The St. Paul Saints are holding open tryouts in May for anyone looking to make their baseball dream become a reality.

The Saints are holding their annual open tryout on May 5 at CHS Field in St. Paul. The tryout is free, and registration starts at 9 a.m. ant the front gate of the ballpark. Tryouts begin at 10 a.m.

Officials say those who plan on trying out should come ready in baseball attire, cleats, bring their own glove and position players should bring a wood bat. Participants will be allowed to perform at one position.

Infielders will go through defensive and throwing drills, while outfields will get the chance to show their range and arms. All position players will also get the opportunity to hit.

Pitchers will through bullpen sessions, catchers will get the chance to go behind the plate, block pitches in the dirt and throw out potential base stealers.

The Saints will carry 28 players into Spring Training and 23 into the regular season.
