Police: 1 Teenage Girl Dead, Woman Injured In St. Paul Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- St. Paul police say one person is dead and another is in the hospital after a shooting on Sunday morning.

According to police, officers were called at 7:30 a.m. to an alley on the 700 block of Sims Avenue on a report of shots fired. There, the officers discovered two females suffering from injuries. One female, who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say the victim is a juvenile female in her late teens.

The other victim was taken to Regions Hospital where she is being treated for injuries, of which the extent is unknown. Authorities say she was treated for her injuries and released.

Police say witnesses are being questioned at the department's headquarters and are looking for anyone else who may know something. Anyone with information is asked to call the department's homicide unit at 651-266-5650.

The investigation is active. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner is working on determining an exact cause of death and the identity of the victim.
