St. Paul Police: Man Flees Officers On Foot After Traffic Stop, Apparently Shoots Self In Torso

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- St. Paul police say a foot chase led to a suspect shooting himself early Saturday evening in the West Frogtown neighborhood.

Officers pulled over a man at about 5 p.m. near the intersection of North Victoria Street and Blair Avenue. The man fled his vehicle on foot, and officers gave chase until they heard a gunshot.

Investigators say officers caught up to the man, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. It is not clear if it was intentionally or accidentally inflicted. Two guns were found on the ground next to the injured man.

The man is expected to survive, and he will later be booked on an existing felony warrant. Police are still investigating.
