Man killed in shooting in St. Paul's Payne-Phalen neighborhood; police investigating

Police in St. Paul, Minnesota, are investigating after they said a man died in a shooting on Saturday afternoon.

Officers responded to the incident on the 900 block of York Avenue around 2:25 p.m. They found the man, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He died at the scene.

Investigators are working to learn what led to the shooting and who is responsible, according to police.

Officials said the incident marks St. Paul's first homicide of 2026.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to identify the man and determine exact cause of death at a later time.
