St. Paul Police Investigate Overnight Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – St. Paul police are investigating after shots were fired Sunday night in the same location where a man was killed over the weekend.

According to police, officers received a call around midnight of shots fired on Mississippi River Boulevard at Summit Avenue.

There was a group of people gathered at the location, holding what police said looked like a memorial.

Police said people in a car drove by and shot at a the memorial.

No one was hit.

A few bystanders heard the shots and ran through the woods. They were treated for twisted ankles and scrapes.

Police recovered two weapons from the scene.

A man was killed at the same location Friday night, although police did not confirm if that's what the memorial was for.

Police said the man who was killed Friday was suspected of robbing people on the street.

Investigators think two robbers tried to steal from a man and woman and somehow one of the suspects was shot to death.

Anyone with any information on the suspect or incident is asked to call St. Paul Police Homicide Unit at 651-266-5650.
