St. Paul Police: Driver Flees After Striking Young Girl

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- A young girl in St. Paul is recovering after a hit-and-run driver crashed into her.

St. Paul police say the incident happened in the city's east side, near the 1800 block of 7th Street East, just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.  The young girl was reportedly walking outside when she was hit by a car going east.

After the crash, the driver fled the scene. One nanny we spoke with who works in the area says traffic on that stretch of road has been a problem in the past.

"It's pretty crazy I mean people speed, they don't stop for anything. Not even the buses. It gets pretty wild out here," Nanny Pasha Her said.

The girl was found on the curb by emergency responders and was taken to Regions Hospital.  Her injuries are unknown, but police believe they are not life-threatening.
