St. Paul Firefighters Battle 2 Separate Fires Overnight

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Firefighters in St. Paul were busy Monday as they battled two separate house fires overnight.

According to St. Paul fire officials, one began just before midnight at a home in the 600 block of Western Street North.

Crews said the fire appears to have started in the front room of the home, possibly near a Christmas tree.

The home sustained heavy damage, but no one was injured.

Around the same time, a second fire occurred at Morning Star Apartments, located in the 100 block of West Iowa Avenue.

Crews said they believe the fire started after a gas main was hit, possibly by a car..

A couple of windows were burned out. They were boarded up and the residents living in the unit were able to stay there for the night.

No injuries were reported from that fire either.
