St. Paul Faith Leaders Rally For Paid Sick Leave

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Faith leaders from St. Paul came together Tuesday to support workers' rights.

The group of over 25 clergy member say it is launching a faith-led effort to gather support for paid sick days.

Minnesotans do not have equal access to this benefit right now, and the group says paid sick time is a crucial part in making a healthy community.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported last year that a lack of paid sick time is associated with fewer preventative doctor visits, higher rates of working while sick, slower recovery time and higher rates of occupational injuries.

The group says it will work with more than 40 St. Paul congregations and faith communities, and will lead them into direct relationships with city government.
