St. Paul City Council Restricts Sale Of Flavored Tobacco, Ups Price Of Cigars
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- Less than a week after Minneapolis' new tobacco laws went into effect, its sister city is following suit.
The St. Paul City Council unanimously passed an ordinance Wednesday that would restrict the sale of flavored tobacco products to adult-only tobacco stores and raise the minimum price of cigars to $2.60 each.
In Minneapolis, laws went into effect on Jan. 1 that increased the price of flavored tobacco and cigars, along with an automatic price increase on cigarettes.
Advocates told the city council flavored tobacco is targeted at children, and thus should not be allowed anywhere that children might see it.
