St. Jude Issues Advisory For Heart Defibrillators Due To Battery Issue

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minnesota-based medical device company St. Jude Medical announced a medical advisory for some of its heart defibrillators.

The heart device company is warning customers of "premature battery depletion" in six different models of heart defibrillators manufactured prior to May 2015. The concern is that the batteries could run out of energy.

The company said the chance of this happening is VERY low, less than one percent, however they have asked doctors to get in touch with patients about the recall.
