St. Cloud Man Jumps From 2nd Story Window Fleeing From Police

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A St. Cloud man is in custody after jumping from a second story window in an attempt to flee from police Thursday.

According to a statement from police, investigators obtained a search warrant for an apartment on the 400 block of 8th Avenue North in St. Cloud. They believed 36-year-old Lazaro Domingo Diaz -- a suspect in a domestic violence case earlier this week who led police on a chase -- was inside.

A SWAT team was called to the apartment along with a K-9 unit to search the premises at around 6:20 p.m., police say. As officers were searching the building, officers say Diaz was hiding in a back bedroom but jumped out of a second-story window and attempted to flee.

A St. Cloud K-9 caught Diaz and officers were able to apprehend him. He was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital for minor injuries related to jumping out of the window and the encounter with the K-9. He was later booked in the Stearns County Jail.

Diaz is facing multiple felony charges, including fleeing police in a motor vehicle, second degree assault and felony domestic assault.
