St. Cloud Cultural Night Celebrates Somali Heritage

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The ninth annual Somali Cultural Night was held on Saturday, celebrating Somali heritage.

People gathered at the Atwood Memorial Center Ballroom in St. Cloud.

Governor Mark Dayton was invited after his appearance last October at the NAACP Community Conversation meeting.

The meeting was held after police say a man held up a Confederate flag on the campus of St. Cloud State, while calling people out as they passed by.

"These are all Minnesotans, we're all Americans and I just, again really my heart goes out to all of you and congratulations for putting together such a tremendous evening," Dayton said.

The celebration featured traditional dances, poems, a fashion show and a talent show.
