Before the officer exited his squad, he was hit from behind by another driver, sending the squad into the back of the vehicle that had just pulled over.

The car that struck the squad came to a stop in the center lane of traffic on I-35W, and was soon struck by another vehicle.

Police say four people, including the officer, all suffered minor injuries and were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

The driver who hit the squad car was arrested, and authorities are awaiting the results of a blood draw.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
