Spring Lake Park Duplex Fire Under Investigation

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – No one was hurt after a fire broke out in a Spring Lake Park duplex Thursday morning.

According to the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department Chief, two smoke alarms were sounding when firefighters arrived at the duplex, located in the 600 block of 79th Avenue.

Upon arrival, crews saw fire coming out the front door.

Firefighters found the woman sleeping in the basement. She was not hurt, suffering smoke inhalation at the least. She was not transported to the hospital.

Crews said the fire appeared to have started in the entry way of the basement, which sustained minor damage.

The chief said the initial concern was that three kids could have been inside during the fire, but the woman was the only person in the duplex. The kids were already at the bus stop.

The upstairs of the duplex was unoccupied as well.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
